Since its establishment in 1969, the City of Sedro-Woolley Housing Authority has been committed to providing high-quality, affordable housing to some of the community’s most vulnerable populations. Within its 80 units of public housing, SWHA ensures that about 140 residents have a place to call home. Those residents include economically disadvantaged families, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
A five-member volunteer Board of Commissioners, appointed by the mayor of the City of Sedro-Woolley, governs the Authority. However, the
King County Housing Authority, under contract, oversees SWHA’s daily operations, including property management, maintenance, and accounting services.
Positions at the the Sedro-Woolley Housing Authority are hired through the King County Housing Authority in line with the contract between the two agencies. When available, SWHA employment opportunities are listed at KCHA's Job Listings Web page.
The Sedro-Woolley Housing Authority’s operating costs are completely covered by tenant rents and direct support from the federal government. SWHA doesn’t receive any funding from Washington state, Skagit County, or the City of Sedro-Woolley.
